QUEEN BEE BUCKFAST

Apicoltura Laterza deals with the selection and sale of queens, among the varieties available there is the Queen bee Buckfast with availability, every year, from mid April to the end of June.

The Queen Bee Buckfast is a very strong hybrid obtained from the crossing of the English strain drones with an Italian queen. This type of bee, in fact, was created in England at the beginning of ' 900 in Buckfast Abbey by Father Adam, following a decimation of bees due to a parasite.

THE BUCKFAST QUEEN BEETHE BEEKEEPERS' FAVOURITE

The Buckfast queen bee has many positive characteristics that are favourable to beekeepers, in fact, it is very docile and prolific, robust (excellent resistance to disease), has little tendency to swarm and a good ability to produce honey. The main defects of queen bee Buckfast is the marked tendency to bind the combs with cerulean bridges, and the abundant application of propolis on the inner walls of the hive.
